Message	of both sides. I'll trust the higher octane method since it did produce fewer HC in my test, but it's difficult to say without having done a test with lower octane as well. Might be a good experiment for someone with access to emissions equipment? Just as you say a hotter and faster burn would produce fewer HC's, I could also see how one would argue that a slower burn would as well.
